The Freedom Shop will be at the Wellington Anarchist Bookfair on Saturday 15 March at 19 Tory St. We will also be speaking about the Freedom Shop on the evening of Friday 14 March and will possibly have stalls at some of the other events during the week.  Other bookshops and publishers attending the Bookfair include:  AK Press Jura Books Kate Sharpley Library Little Black Cart PM Press Rebel Press The Bookfair is not limited to the Saturday. An art exhibition of posters, zines, badges and protest art will be on display at 19 Tory St from 12th to 16th March. There will also be a series of public talks and discussions over the week, including talks by writers and local anarchists and Michael Schmidt, the author of ' Black Flame ' and the ' The Cartography of Anarchy '. The Wellington Anarchist Bookfair will be a day of Anarchist ideas, anarchist books, anarchist pamphlets and zines, anarchist badges and patches, anarchist posters - that is, lots of anarchist paraphernalia and ephemera and the Freedom Shop will be there.  But the Bookfair is more than a Bookfair: a Week of Anarchy begins on Monday 10th March with an introductory discussion on the history of anarchism in this land; the next night features local anarchist community groups; the Wednesday will be individual anarchists talking about their work at a local community level; the Thursday is a talk by anarchist author Michael Schmidt ('BlackFlame' and 'The Cartography of Anarchy'), and Friday will be the opening of the Bookfair. Session Topics & Dates: Nov 6th 'Pirates, coastguards & warships' Nov 13th 'Introduction to Anarchism' Nov 27th 'Pacifism & non-violence' Location:  19 Tory Street, Central Wellington Time:  6pm A Report Back on 'Pirates, Coastguards and Warships': Observations of a farcical trial in Hamburg, where the might of Germany and its plodding jurisprudence was set the challenge of annihilating a handful of Somali pirates. The underlying theme of the evening came as a paraphrasing of what Slavoj Zizek said in a public discussion with Assange: “let’s not be glib. You are a terrorist, technically, yes this is true. But, and this is my point: if you are a terrorist, then my god, what are they?!” Lets unpack that: the Somali men and youths sentenced to between seven and two years in jail are pirates.
