The Freedom Shop has moved

… but not very far. We’re still inside Opportunities for Animals, but at the back of the shop. The new space is a bit more enclosed and feels more like a book shop. We’re still in the process of making it pretty. 


So don’t despair if you don’t see our window display, just wander to the back.

20th Anniversary of the murder of Carlo Giuliani

On July 20, 2001, 23-year-old anarchist Carlo Giuliani was shot dead by police during protests against the G8 summit in Genoa. The Freedom Shop are hosting another movie night and we would love to see you there. LINDA LINDA LINDA (Nobuhiro Yamashita, Japan, 2005) 13 Garrett Street, Te Aro, Wellington Thursday 18th September, 6pm. Fundraiser for Burmese punks - Koha entry. Since the military overthrow of a semi-democratic government in 2021, Burma has been immersed in a civil war, three million people have been displaced, many now living as refugees in surrounding countries. Over half of the country has been liberated by opposition armed groups, but the regime hangs on, using air strikes, forced conscription and brutality to control the main cities and areas of economic value.
