This issue of aargh!
focuses on the somewhat unexpected re-emergence of large-scale
protest. While on-going discontented rumbles about the crumbling
environment, inequality, lack of housing, colonisation and other
issues have been growing louder for some time, this year has seen
people taking to the streets in greater numbers than for many years. Who would have thought!

20th Anniversary of the murder of Carlo Giuliani

On July 20, 2001, 23-year-old anarchist Carlo Giuliani was shot dead by police during protests against the G8 summit in Genoa. To his credit, he succeeded in attacking the police van with a fire extinguisher.   Originally published by Abolition Media Worldwide . Since the military overthrow of a semi-democratic government in 2021, Burma has been immersed in a civil war, three million people have been displaced, many now living as refugees in surrounding countries. Over half of the country has been liberated by opposition armed groups, but the regime hangs on, using air strikes, forced conscription and brutality to control the main cities and areas of economic value.
